International Marketing Assistants

International Marketing Assistants (IMAs) are current international students who assist the Outreach and Admission teams at Shoreline Community College. In addition to communicating with prospective students in a variety of languages through social media and email, they also gain real-world skills by designing and producing marketing materials, including posters, brochures, and videos, using a variety of online tools as well as software like Photoshop and Final Cut Pro.

Why I became an IMA: I love getting involved in the campus, as well as interacting with other international students and learning about different cultures. I feel like this position allows me to maximize my experience and to share my experience with others.

Why I chose Shoreline: I knew about Shoreline through a friend when I was in Vietnam, and the facility, the events, and the diversity captured my attention right away! So far I have always been glad that I made this decision.

Favorite classes: I'm a communication studies major, so my favorite classes are definitely communication studies classes. I also really love any natural science class, anything that allows me to learn about human rights, equality, social justice, and even how the human mind works!

What I do when I'm free: A big part of my life is music, and that is usually how I spend my free time. I either play the guitar, the piano, or I sing and record. And if I'm not feeling productive, TV series is the way to go.

Favorite American food: Pasta and burgers all the way!

Why I became an IMA: I wanted to become an IMA because it allows me to communicate more with other people as well as making future students feel like they can belong in Shoreline!

Why I chose Shoreline: I was introduced to Shoreline by my friend back in my home country and ever since then, I loved the friendly campus environment Shoreline offers.

Favorite classes: Art and Humanities classes

What I do when I'm free: I like to watch YouTube, take pictures, and listen to music.

Why I became an IMA: I wanted to help out international students with my experiences at SCC.

Why I chose Shoreline: One of my friends from my hometown graduated from Shoreline community college and became a nurse. She said Shoreline is well known as the college that has really good science departments in the States. That's why I chose Shoreline.

Why I became an IMA:  My passion is to capture the moment of time. Photography is my major and I’ve been doing it for years. I also like to help other people. I always enjoy attending ISOPs, parties, and school events as a photographer. So if you see me around school events don’t be afraid, smile at the camera and feel free to let me know if you want some photos taken! 

Why I chose ShorelineCommunity college gives me opportunities to have time to choose what I want to do before going to university. Advisors, staff, and friends at Shoreline are very friendly and helpful. The campus is filled up with green nature and fresh air. Shoreline is a nice city to live in, with a smaller population but not far away from downtown Seattle.

Favorite classesBeginning Photography and Documentary Photography

What I do when I'm freeTaking photos (mostly of transit buses), travel around, riding buses, repair computers and electronics, and teaching photography to my friends.

Favorite American food: Burgers, steak – well, I love pretty much all Western food!

Why I became an IMA: I became an IMA because I enjoy helping other people, and I can gain great experience when I'm working. It's very cool to work at school as an IMA.

Why I chose ShorelineShoreline is a great college that I always heard people talk about. Shoreline has a large, safe, and beautiful campus that attracted me a lot. In addition, Shoreline has great faculty and high transfer rate.

IMA Mission

To share what it is like to be a student at Shoreline with prospective students, parents, and international partners and assist prospective students during the admission process.

IMA Vision

To increase the global presence of Shoreline Community College and help more students achieve their academic goals at Shoreline!

What IMAs Do

  • Represent Shoreline Community College as current student ambassadors to answer questions from prospective students and give campus tours to International Education visitors.
  • Increase our social media presence globally by engaging with our audience and connecting with new followers and regularly post on social media with helpful information for prospective and current students.
  • Learn and improve skills in marketing material design, effective communication, and social media management, using a variety of online tools and software like Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), Adobe Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and Canva.

Become an IMA 

Hiring decisions will be made based on the applicant’s qualifications, completed online application, interview, and/or performance on assigned project. Skills in photography and video editing are preferred.
